La inteligencia artificial dejó de ser una charla de laboratorio y entró a la factories

Laha arrivedado just when the technology decided to complicate my morning: every application wants an update, a password and a small explanation of what it wants from me. Welcome to Buenos Aires, where more than 1.500 people gathered at the CESSI SummIT 2026 to talk about something less abstract: how companies actually use artificial intelligence. The meeting brought together the private sector, government and academia.

La IA ya se en el trabajo cotidiano

The agenda focused on applications in health, financial technology, insurance, electronic commerce, logistics, agriculture, energy and mining. In plain language: the technology is no longer only a chatbot that promises to write an email in thirty seconds. It now appears in invoice processing, customer service, foreign trade and operations management. A Plaza de Negocios showed solutions designed around real business needs, because the market is not short of promises. It is short of people who know how to put them into practice.

“We are entering one of the deepest industrial transformations in history, in which knowledge, software and artificial intelligence are redefining the limits of what we are able to produce.”Martín Rapallini

Pablo Fiuza, president of CESSI, said that 40% of software companies in the country do not advance further in artificial intelligence because they lack qualified personnel. He explained that the gap is between what the technology can do and what companies are actually capable of incorporating. The industry has created nearly 65.000 jobs over the last decade and currently exceeds 160.000, but training cannot be a stage that ends when entering the labor market. It has to be permanent. Otherwise, we will keep updating our phones and pretending that is enough.

The event also included debates on governance and ethical criteria for implementing these tools responsibly. It closed with the 22nd edition of the Sadosky Awards, which received a record number of submissions. The main award went to a digital maintenance project for pipeline networks at YPF. In other words: the most prominent prize did not go to an algorithm for writing poetry, but to technology aimed at keeping the machinery of the energy sector working.

  • Applications were presented in health, financial technology, insurance, electronic commerce, logistics, agriculture, energy and mining.
  • The business plaza showed tools for invoice processing, customer service, foreign trade and operations management.
  • Forty percent of software companies identify a shortage of qualified personnel as the main obstacle to progress in artificial intelligence.
  • The event addressed governance, ethics and continuing training, and awarded a pipeline maintenance project at YPF.

If you work with artificial intelligence, do not wait for a giant training course to arrive. Start with one repetitive task, measure the result and check who is responsible when the system fails. The technology is already at the office. Better invite it to a real meeting.
